What will the new name be? A new member of the family!!
Hello my friends!
As some of you might have seen I have recently been graciously endorsed by Martin Guitars and Fishman which my super secret guitar geek side LOVES!!! I am a gear head, I know I know it is just guitars and electronics, but to me they are much more! I see the passion that goes into these guitars and electtronics and love being associated with them. They say surround yourself with quaility, so I am doing just that. I am proud to play these guitars that are made right here in the US in Nazareth, PA and the Fishman electronics help me achieve a pure sound when playing out on the road!So here's the deal I just ordered a new member of my acoustic family from Martin Guitars which will take 5 months to get (I know how will I ever wait)?! I will try and keep you posted on the progress of it, but in the meantime I would like to have you all give me name suggestions for my new guitar. My current guitar names are "Olivia", "Blackie Too", "Angelica" and " Jimmy". I thought it might be fun if you all culd post names in the comment line. Whoever's name I choose I will send you an MP3 of the first song I record with it that only you will have! I look forward to what your suggestion are! Below are some picture of when I went to the Martin factory last week while in Nazareth, PA. Onward and upward my friends ... till next time! PM ![]() What's Next?
Hello Hello!
Well this last month has been filled with a lot of travel. I went coast to coast promoting my new album "We'll Rise Above" and there are still many more miles to go. I must say that I think I was born to travel. As a kid we moved around alot, so it is in my blood. Somehow when I am on the road I feel at home. I think it is the movement part of it. I always have to be moving and the second I start to stand still I start getting sideways. I am sure a shrink would have a field day with me! So, what is next? Well, I have been sending my album out to radio and I am getting some response back from them. Thank you all for plugging me on your Facebook pages and to your friends! It has been overwhelming seeing the support you all have given me. I used to think that I could do it on my own. I guess that is my own defense mechanism, but now I realize as the years roll on that there truly is "power in numbers" and I don't wanna do it by myself. I need you and that is a very comforting concept for me! When I was in Los Angeles I met with Hollywood Records/Disney and it was a very positive meeting. They really took the time to talk with me and council me. Now don't get me wrong I don't think this is the "end all be all", but knowledge is power and I gathered a lot of knowledge from this meeting. It reaffirmed that I need to grow my fan base more and get out there on the road so I can meet you. Thank you all for checking out my music on Facebook this last couple weeks and "liking" it! Just that statement is interesting to me because I have watched this music biz change so much over the last ten years. Nobody would believe it would have been like this, but because of the internet and the landscape it has created eveyone has to be on their toes. I keep hearing people say, "It's the wildwest out there today"! Well, good news is I always have wished I lived back then, so it looks like I am getting my chance. So, I will keep posting and putting it out there as long as you want it. Gordon Vincent (www.gordonvincent.com) and myself are working on a song and video. We hope to get it out to you really soon. It has been a real pleasure working with him and collaborating with such a genius. Stay tuned ... okay thank you again and again I will keep you up to date on what's next!! Here are some pics from this last month, enjoy: What's Going On?!
Hello Hello ...
It has been a while since I have "blogged" on my web-site so ... What's going on in Pete world? I have been off the road for a month now and I am sending CD's out to reviewers and radio stations! I am excited to here what they will say about "We'll Rise Above", but also nervous. When you put yourself out there like that get ready! I have also been trying to secure a publishing deal which will help me futher my music career in a different way. I have always written songs for myself, but in this current market/business world we live in I realize I will need to do more than just be an artist out on the road singing my songs and selling CD's. That is where my true passion has always lived, but "the times they are a changing". Please keep your fingers crossed and lift those prayers high for ol Pedro! It is more than appreciated and welcomed!!! Also I have some shows in October that I am really excited about! Stay tuned ... I have been getting a good dose of manual labor lately! My buddy Riley has a place up in Franklin,KY and I have been helping out at his place (www.brightsantiquesworld.com). I can tell you this much I am not 21 anymore!! LOL I have had a lot of time to think and ponder what I am doing right with music and I am so sure of my path right now, but sometimes the doubting downers try and creep in and sway me. I have some really positive things happening right now with music and I know this year already has been filled with blessing and comfirmations that music is what I am meant to do. So, for now I will keep plugging away and trying to get the tunes out to you all. I am currently shooting and editing a new video for American Fable. I hope to get it finished in the next couple weeks or so. And I am also editing a video for a cool project called "The 1861 Project". It is about the American Civil War. A group of Nashville songwriters got together and wrote songs from the perpective of the soldiers on both sides. Pretty cool stuff. I am working on the one that Marty Stewart sang on called " The Soldier's Dream". Check it out: www.1861project.com Okay now I am sufficently jacked up on my Starbuck's to continue on with my day!! Stay tuned for tour updates that I am getting in place right now and if you get a chance try and check out one of my live broadcasts. Just check the schedule here on my site. Have a great Labor Day weekend peeps and see you down the road Tunes4food Tour is a success!!

So where did I leave off last time I blogged? Oh yeah Buffalo!
So we played a cool place called the Sportsman Tavern in Buffalo, NY. What a great turn out and lovely people. This is Grace's backyard so the peeps came out! I look forward to going back and playing this venue again! After the gig we had a couple days off, so we visited Niagara Falls and did some hiking in Bobby "Riff's" property. He has a creek that runs through his land and someone had made these very cool rock formations. It was very peaceful and thanks to him for sharing this with me! ![]() ![]() ![]() Now off to Rochetser, NY to play the Lovin Cup and do a radio interview with WXXI's Scott Regan . It was really cool playing some tunes for Scott's listening audience. I played "Ride That Train" and "Crazy Maze". I must say I was a bit low on energy by this point from all the rogue traveling the past three weeks, but the excitement of playing in the city kept me going. So, I took the train from Albany to Penn Station and NYC began. If you have ever been here you know that it is full on all the time and you can't skip a beat or you will get run over. I had a day and a half off in the city and took in as much as I could. Did alot of walking and video shooting here's a link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pM0j8WfmkV4 . So it was awesome seeing my friend Eleanor Dubinsky ( www.eleanordubinsky.com ). You really should check her out. Now for the pics! ![]() So now it is time to try and get my record out to everyone! I know sometimes it might seem like it's all you hear me talk about but honestly it is what is on my mind! I am trying to release this by myself and with your help it will happen. If we together can raise money to do this then posting and talking about it is easy peezy! I know in my heart of heart this record is meant to be and I ca't wait to see what happens! So, thank you for following me and accompaning me on my journey. I really feel like I have an armyon my side! Rock on my friends and I will see you down the road! Tell everyone you know and if you have any ideas please let me know! petemroz@me.com ...till next time!! On The Road!
Hello All,
It has been awhile since I have updated on my web-site due to the fact I have been posting everything on Facebook lately. As many of you know I have been out on the road with Grace Stumberg (www.gracestumberg.com) in support of www.tunes4food.org which raises money for local food banks. Grace has already before this tour raised over 50,000 meals for this organization! Every $1 you give buys 5 meals! I am honored to be apart of such a cause! Please donate if you are able, it truly makes a difference! Our first stop The Purple Fiddle in Thomas, WV. John the owner and all the staff were wonderful to us! We rolled into Thomas on a Tuesday and stayed at the Fiddle that night and caught a band that was coming through that night. The fiddle allowed us to stay in their quarters for the two days we were there. We played Wednesday night and the vibe was awesome. The people of Thomas came out and truly listened to the music. The Fiddle is in a remote town in WV which was nice to get away form the hustle and bustle, but I will say that ATT needs to add this town to their list of towns to help get better coverage!! LOL Thank you John for a great venue and providing us with an amazing experience! Next stop Athens, OH Jackie O's! We rolled in and went to a cool little guitar shop named Blue Eagle Music ( www.blueeaglemusic.com ) bought some strings and it was off to the gig! We opened for a cool local band called Broken Ring ( www.brokenring.com ). It was beer week in Athens so there were lots of patrons at Jackie O's! Grace kicked ass and took names ( email addresses actually )! At the end of the night a very kind man named Steve came up and ask if we would sell him our CD's. The only thing was he didn't have any money, so he INSISTED on paying us with indian pennies from the late 1800's! We told him he didn't have to give us his pennies just to take a CD and enjoy, but he insisted " A deal is a deal"! He smiled at us as walked out of the door saying, "I'm going home right now and listening to these"! God bless you Steve, thanks for making my night! A big thank you to Coleen for letting us crash at her wonderful house that night! We really do appreciate it and if you are ever in Nashville look me up! ![]() Time to play Zanibar in Columbus, OH. We arrived and were ready to play for the people. Tracy was awesome and the people that came out were wonderful! This is was a quaint little place which is nice to play because you really feel close to your listeners and makes it easier to interact with them. AND the ham and cheese sandwhich rules! Grace wasn't feeling great at this gig and thought she was getting sick, but she rallied and put on a great show for the masses! Way to pull up those boot straps Grace and be professional! We were supposed to head to Harrisburg after this gig, but we had a couple places/gigs not pan out that were around this area so we decided we would have to cancel the Mid-Town Scholar Bookstore gig for logistical reason, so we headed to Nashville. ![]() Nashville is my home and neither Bob nor Grace have ever been to Nashville, so we loaded up the truck and headed south. It was a bit of a drive, but well worth it. While there I had to show the two of them downtown which ended up being a real treat! Grace, in true tourist form, bought a cowboy hat and then we headed into Gruhn Guitars! The three of us played some guitars and then Bob said, "I wonder if they would let us go upstairs to the vault room"? This is a room upstairs where they keep the $25,000 and above guitars. All super vintage super kick-ass cool axes! OMG! Well, a gentleman there overheard him talking to me and said, "I'll take you up there"! YES!! This is a dream come true for me. I have lived in Nashville for almost 20 years and have never went up there. So, we went up and played all kinds of vintage guitars from pre-war Martins to 50's Les Pauls. One guitar Bob played cost $187,000!! I found my beauty for a mear $48,000 , but I think I could talk them down! We also got a chance to meet George Gruhn and take our photo with him! Pretty cool indeed! ![]() ![]() So now it is showtime at the The Streets House Concert! We set our stage up right by their pool and it was an awesome night of music to a very intimate crowd! It was great to be back home to see my lady and my peeps even though I had only been gone for 4 days up to this point. Thank you to Mark and Kathy Streets for being awesome foster parents and letting us stay with them! You two are TOP NOTCH!!! Thank you to all te folks that came out and listened to us play! ![]() Off to Cincinnati, OH to play the Warren's House Concert and Taza Coffe Shop! Drew and Tonna Warren had us over to their house to play for their friends and family. They really rolled the red carpet out for us! Set up a tent with fans, music, water, beer, plants, etc... hahah ... they really went all out! They really made us feel at home and we really appreciate it! After we got finished playing and signing some CD's my cousin Lauren Whetsel got up accompanied by Grace and sang Journey's "Don't Stop Believing"! It was totally awesome and cute! She is the true rock star! Fearless and I am sure we will see her name in lights one day! Here's a link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fS6QcU2L_Lw ![]() Next gig Taza Coffee Shop where the vibe was kicking! What a cool place to play a show! We had a good crowd for this gig and it was an awesome place to listen to some music! I can't wait to play here again next time I roll through Cincinnati. Thank you to the Sarahs for having us and all the folks that came out and supported the music. I throughly enjoyed talking to you all and getting to know you better. Cincinnati was filled with good family fellowship and alot of sweat! Man the summer is here! Thank you to Drew and Tonna again for a great time and all the people that came out to both gigs!! Rock on Cincinnati! Time to go to Indy well close, Anderson, IN! I have ALOT of family here because on my Dad's side it is here all the Mroz clan is.First stop was my Grandpa nursing home. We wanted to play some music for the folks at the home he is in and we could really tell they enjoyed it. Each one individually was identifing in their own way. What a treat to have them sing along! Now it was time to play the Brock House concert. Man it was hot, but the people came out and Grace and I played our tunes for them! A big thanks to Jane and Steve Brock for having us out! It was also wonderful because my cousin brought me some pictures of my Father from when he was an infant up to his teenage years. What a blessing this is for me and I am very thankful to Nancy bringing them! It's time to drive to Cleveland, OH and make a stop at the Rock-n-Roll Hall Of Fame! Bob, Grace and myself had a grat time here seeing all the music history and honoring the Legends that have come before us and all the musicians out there making their art. I really enjoyed this place and will go back in the future. There is so much to take in and just not emough time! Saw a a really cool 3D movie of U2 in concert. It was you were with them on stage. It truly was an experience! So we forged on and made it to Buffalo! ... to be continued!! New CD Coming "We'll Rise Above"!!!
Since my last post a lot has happened and my days have been filled with tons-o-details of tieing up all the loose ends for the "We'll Rise Above" album. You all would be amazed at all the things you have to do to get your record all squared away. From artwork to mastering, approving design to finding the best deal on envelopes! I love it though and I feel like I am having a child! Hahah I know all you moms out there would strongly disagree with me and I can dig it! You are what makes the world go round! However, I am proud like a new parent of this latest album and I can't wait to get it to your doorstep and then have you put in your CD player! When you are making a record you never know what the fans are expecting to hear or if they expect anything. The goal when making this record was just to be "honest" and make it sound like me. It is such a good feeling accomplishing a goal in life and we did it! Some of the songs on the record are songs I've recorded before like " Stay", " Phonecalls And Photographs", "Get Away" and " Crazy Maze". the reason I recorded them again was I am looking at this record like it is my very first one ever and not relying on my past two albums to speak for who I am as an artist. The path has been a very long one in between my last two albums and I am proud of the sound and the songs, but I believe now is the time. I believe that the way this record sounds is what I want to share with the world and I will do whatever it takes to get it to you. There are a total of 11 tracks on the album and I was blessed with with some pretty awesome cats playing along side me : Warren Huart producer/guitar slinger ( http://www.warrenhuart.com ), Blair Sinta on drums/percussion ( http://www.blairsinta.com ), Jon Flaugher on bass ( http://www.myspace.com/jonflower ), Tim Pierce on electric guitar ( http://www.timpierceguitar.com ), Zac Rae on piano/keybords ( http://www.allmusic.com/artist/zac-rae-p463024/credits), Robin English on backround vocals ( http://www.robinenglish.com ), Eleanor Dubinsky on cello and backround vocals ( http://www.eleanordubinsky.com ), and special appeareance vocals from Marcella Detroit a.k.a Marcy Levy ( http://marcelladetroit.com ) on "Get Away". So how could I not have a kick-ass album coming your way! Check these people out and dig their music if not already! It is truely the work of my life right now and yes I will say that if I am fortunate to record another record in the future! But for now get ready cause this record is coming your way on August 2, 2011 and you can pre-order a signed copy July 1, 2011 right here on this site! This is the beginning of something I started a long time ago and we are on this ride together, "We'll Rise Above"!
![]() Peace, Pete "We'll Rise Above" is recorded!
Hello my Friends!
As alot of you know I have been recording my latest record "We'll Rise Above" in Los Angeles for the last two weeks and I am proud to say we did all the tracking and now it is mixing time! So, on my end I am finished with this stage! Wow, this has been a truly amazing time these last couple weeks. I really want to say thank you to some people for making this so special of a trip for me and I am sure I will forget someone ( just turned 36 and starting to forget ). First I would like to thank Traylor ( www.fivestonestudios.com ) and Kyle ( www.justkyle.com ) for coming out and helping me shoot some footage of LA for a future video piece we will be doing. Traylor thank you for allowing me the freedom to soar and chase my dreams. Your friendship as been truly a pure blessing in my life and Kyle I am inspired by your creativeness! I can't wait to see what you come up with next! Next, I would like to thank Angie ( www.angiehill.com ) for being such a great hostess and land-lady! I have had a great time staying with you and you have made me feel like family. My birthday party was special and to all the folks that came out, thank you! Came in a stranger leaving with a true friend! Thank you girl and remember what today is, yep the first day of the rest of your life! Craig Gore, my brother thank you for helping me through this process with your insight and words. Thank you for your experience and a great tune! I can't wait to hear what we write next! Robin ( www.robinenglish.com ), you sound like an angel and I am so thankful for our friendship and the ' ... songs we wrote' . We must have sung together in another lifetime because it is so right when our voices soar together! Roy and Gale English you inspire me, thank you for making this happen! Then there are my Nashville friends ( Mark and Kathy Streets and Steve and Susan Bricker) that traveled all the way across the country to hang with Robin and myself on our birthdays. You all never cease to amaze me and I love you all! Thank you Eleanor ( www.eleanordubinsky.com ) for taking time out of your busy schedule to come in the studio to play cello and sing like only you can! ' One day we'll rise above ' I have a feeling this is the year! Marcy ( www.marcelladetroit.com ), thank you for coming in the studio on such short notice and singing on "Get Away". When I heard those harmonies my soul was smiling! It was truly an honor and a dream come true to meet you! It was beyond my wildest dreams I would be jamming with you and playing a game of "Nothing" with Lance! So ... I think that about covers it! I have had the time of my life and I know I will seeing each one of you again down the road somewhere. Our paths will cross again! I have a ton of video footage and pictures that I can't wait to share with you all down the line. Peace and love to all you and THANK YOU for making my dreams come true! This is all because of YOU! ...till next time Pedro ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() 11 Days
Good-morning, Good-afternoon or Good-Evening!
So I have 11 days left before I head out to sunny California to record my next record. The days lately have been filled with gathering all the songs and making sure they are ready for the studio. You would think after playing some of these songs a million times there would be no questions, but going back over them with a fine tooth comb has been an interesting process. Hell, I have forgot the lyrics of my own song which doesn't completely surprise me because I forgot what I had for lunch yesterday! Even though the Kickstarter Campaign has elasped the overwhelming sense of thankfulness still stirs inside me. I am amazed at your generousity and will NEVER forget YOU! Today I will be getting back at the songwriting and loving the songs. Are you ready for L.A. Pilgrimites?! Here we go, I feel like I have been waiting my entire life for an opportunity like this and I will make the most of it, believe me! I have nothing for love you all! Pete The Days Go By
So the count down is on, 17 days and I head out to start recording my record! I haven't posting much lately because I am working on pre-production stuff right now. What that means really is I am rewriting some songs, revisiting, and getting the all the song selections right for the record. It has been an interesting process because this requires me to really step back away from my babies and look at them in a different light. Some of these songs are older, but never made a my first two records and now they are coming to life. I am putting the control in someone else's hands and letting them come in with a different perpective. So, it is very cool to see these songs get the fat trimmd off them and see them fit for the race.
As many of you know I leave May 20th for Los Angeles and I will be spending a couple days shooting video with some colleges of mine for a video piece that will coinside with the project. We are going to run around the town shooting cool things and see what we can find! I want you all to experiance this with me, so I will be updating you all here and there letting you know what's happening. For now tough it is the details of the trip that is keeping me busy. I hope all is wel in your world and you are living life as full as you can in the moment you are in! Till next time... Pete Lucky Lucky Lucky
Lucky Lucky Lucky!
I want to tell you a story! Over 80 days ago I started a campaign to raise funds for my 3rd record on Kickstarter.com. I have never raised money for anything other than selling candy bars for my baseball team when I was 7 years old. So the thought of trying this was a scary one, but I was fresh off a wound of an investor that bailed on me at the 25th hour and left me holding a seriously fragile relationship with my producer to be. What was I to do? I knew this one thing whatever I did it wouldn't be giving up! Onward and upward. I put my project together on Kickstarter and launched my project with a furver! Not really knowing what or how I was going to run this campaign, all I knew was the mountain had to moved! So I decided to meet with some PR folks and see if they could help me figure it out. The response was unanimous, " Pete you don't have the fan base numbers to ask for 20K"! I remember leaving those meetings thinking, " I will not let this discourage me, it must happen"! My plan now was reach out to everyone I knew and ask them question that has never come easy for me, "please help". You see I was taught from a very young age rely on no one but myself. As a child my father was a contract engineer so we moved place to place. Always the new kid on the block and the scenery was never the same. When I was 9 my parents decided to go their separate ways and I went went with my father. You see my dad was my very best friend and we always shared a common internal bond other than just father and son. We were connected in spirit and blood. Lucky (his self- professed name), was a lone wolf, a maverick, always pushing the limits just to see where it would go. Didn't always make the best decisions, but who does?! He quickly remarried and the whirlwind began! He always had an affliction for the wounded bird which came from his own strained up bringing. I initially got along just fine with his new wife but as time went on the relationship got strained. After three years of trying my dad decided the best thing for me would for me to go to a boys ranch which might seem like he was giving up but in reality it was one of the most beautiful things that ever has happed to me! He and his wife parted ways also and I ended up staying at the Ranch for almost 4 years! I loved it! ... I lost my father a year and a half ago, but it seems like yesterday and I miss him more than anything I have ever known, but I know in my heart he is watching me right now! Back to Kickstarter! I decided to update everyone through high quality videos where I joked around and kept myself completely transparent and exposed to my fans and friends! I called everyone I knew, texted them, emailed them, posted updates on 20+ social media sites, connected with other artists and their fan base, played music conferences, went to networking/chamber events, lunches, etc... get the point?! :-) I turned up and over every stone I knew of and then some, but with 120 Backers and 4 days to go I had 8k to raise! Were those PR people right? Had I set the goal to high? All signs were pointing to the answer YES, but... keep reading! So I linked up with ThePitchDoctor on Twitter through Tom Martin Digital Kitchen in New Orleans. I asked him if he had any advice for me with my project. He had his assistant named Jamie email me some ideas. One was to do a press release on my Kickstarter project, so I did. I fumbled my way through these online press releases and just left it there. I actually forgot I had done this until later. Now here is where it gets interesting! A man that takes the same route to work everyday decides to deveate from his path for reasons unknown to him. He sees a lady reading a local paper that has an article with my Kickstarter project and recognizes my name. He then immediately remembers several nights before his wife awaking to a voice saying " I am here, It is okay"! Who's voice was it and who is this man? He is the husband of Lucky Bill's ex-wife! She is the lady my father married 25 years ago! He calls her on the phone and says you have got to check out this web-site! They both start to follow "The Pete Mroz Project" on Kickstarter. Well little do I know what they were planning! They watched it for thirty days and saw the number grow then stand still. They were in the background waiting! Then when the project has 2 days left they come in and pledge 5k which totally now makes this project doable! It caused a chain reaction! Other people doubled their pledge and with 35 hours today the goal of 20k was reached by 125 Backers! Now I don't know what you believe in but I can tell you this one thing, God works in beautiful and mysterious ways! This is how amazing life is. A negative was turned into a positive and I am not just talking about the monatary side of it. We all need redemption, forgiveness and closure/understanding and this act of kindness brought all those things. The path that this was found on was one of pure social networking with all the people in my life. Relationships that are current and from the deep past came to life in ways I never knew possible! To tell you I am thankful just wouldn't be a big enough word, so I will tell you that I am deeply moved in my soul at these acts of kindness from the $15 Backer to the $6,000 Backer! You all are loved equally and in abundance in my heart! Now let's go make that record and let the music speak for itself! In May I will be recording my third record with producer Warren Huart (The Fray, Howie Day, Jay Clifford, Augustana) and begin touring the northeast starting in July to promote the album. Be on the look out for it to be release around August. So I think that about covers it for now! Let the fun begin. |
